Sure. All religions are valid as long as they perform the function of making someone feel that the religion has the answers that work for them.





All religions start as misunderstood cults, and I'm sure that some day scientology will be as acceptable as Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, or Mormonism.





Tom Cruise is not gay. He has had many sexual relationships with women, so at the most he could be bisexual. He's probably just a little too unusual and happy for most people to handle, so they label him as homosexual.

To comapare 2 things properly you would need to know an equal amount about both of them. Or at least look or observe or find out.

I realise I have not answered your question but I that's because. I'm not sure what your purpose is in asking it in the first place. Also opinions are not that interesting to me, I'm more interested in actual knowledge and observable facts.





For the sake of balancing things up a bit and to be fair, even tho you probably are not interested, here are some facts about Scientology and why it is a valid religion.





Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say ';applied'; I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. This is different from a religious practice. All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosphy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on anyones faiths of beliefs particularly in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the indivdual, which is why you can be a practicing Jew or Atheist,for example and still use and apply the priniciples of Scientology in your life. It does not conflict. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.


And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.

Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.





The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a ';thing'; you HAVE but what YOU actually are.


The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individual's understanding and awareness of himself. And thereby his native abilities .


When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.





How this result is achieved is the ';technology'; of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit.


He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights


to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable estate., when he died.





He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: '; Scientology The Fundementals of Thought';


There are currently over 8 million Scientologists in more that 150 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 55 years old.


The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:


1. A philosopher developes a philosophy about life and death.


2. People find it interesting.


3. People find it works.


4. People pass it along to others.


5. It grows.








The first Church of Scientology was established in 1953 by a group of Scientologists in the USA. It was established to handle the demand for information about Dianetics and Scientology and to deliver professional training and spiritual councelling and to free up the Founder of Scientology, L.Ron Hubbard, so he could continue with his research into the human spirit. Rather than be pulled away to handle the demand for what he had so far discovered and the technology he had developed at the time. This line of research was very far from complete at this point.





This became to purpose of the Chuches and Missions.





Since then Scientology has expanded and there are now many Churches and Missions all over the world. They still have the same purpose, the supply information and materials about Scientology and delivering the various levels of professional training courses and spiritual councelling that comprise the route or Bridge to spiritual freedom for those who want it.
Scientology calls it self a religion. Unlike all other religions that have to do with worship. Scientology teaches how to use ones personality to advance ones self.The whole idea of calling it a church is scheme of itself to avoid taxes. Their Church is not a place of worship therefore it can not be a religion. Unless the worship is of themself which they all appear to be, which would make them the most evil religion on the face of the earth.
Only one of them can be valid. To say something is valid is to say that it is the right one, the right thing so you can't have Christianity and Scientology both be valid at the same time. I'm a Christian so of course I think Christianity is the valid and not Scientology.

Well.. My mother joined Scientology at the beginning of the year. All was well for a while. They have some great ideas, and the religion in general is pretty nice.. However... Now, after a few months, they are pressuring her to climb the ranks. All she wants to do is get help from the classes and such. But they keep saying ';Don't youw ant to help people?';. It's major pressure.





For the simple fact that there is rumors of corruption in the higher ranks, I would have to say it isn't a very valid religion. It isn't a ';cult';, persay... but I think that the original purpose of Scientology has been clouded by those who are greedy.
