This question is for the true lovers of metal music?

When will band like Iron Maiden or Metallica (The best metal band there ever was). Metal today sucks...... It gets weirder and weirder, I have heard metal genres like, emo and screemo(wtf). I heard deathmetal would be good, then i hear, BEER!BEER! BEER IS GOOD, DRINK BEER!!!!. (wtf) oh, and the are so many pearcing now, people look like ficken tackle boxes, wtf!!!This question is for the true lovers of metal music?

as a metal head from way back in the early 80s to now I have seen so many styles of metal, some good, some crap. I dont like bands that dress in their leather metro sexual skirt looking things...that not metal. Death metal is good, no its great, but you got to find the right bands and there are many.
There will never be another band like Iron Maiden, they are one of a kind. if you want to hear a band like that sounds like old school metallica try out the new Trivium album 'The Crusade', songs like 'Anthem (We Are the Fire)' 'Ignition' and 'Entrance of the Conflagration'.

I believe music is heading down the wrong path in the music industry-I listen to the older metal music because thats the only good metal music out there these days. I have tried the newer stuff but it never holds my attentiion for long and I';m back to the older metal music for some real metal music when metal music was metal music, not some generic version of today trying to come off as metal music...
I agree that there will never be another band as good as metallica or maiden.metal has changed very much since their days but it has been for the worse.Today's metal bands are nowhere near in talent compared to metallica r maiden.Think of it,Lead guitaring is dead,guitar riffs are hopeless,clean vocalists are gradually being replaced by growling SoB's and song composition is just not as good as it used to be.I am sorry but it is better to live in the past than to come out and be greeted by the **** ppl call ';metal'; these days.And I dont see the situation getting any better for a long,long time.New bands will come,but I don't think they will ever displace Metallica or Iron Maiden from their throne.


PS:Dream Theater is not new! The band is 21 yrs old and have been around for a longer time than you think.I also agree that they are the only ones worth listening to today.
me and my friend were just saying how metal is on the down cycle.not that there arent some good bands out there.

well i've seen ozzy every year since about 82',and he is just as great in concert now as then.

It's So True...none of the bands these days will ever turn out exactly like Metallica or Iron Maiden, that's why a lot of people are bringing them back but no one will ever reach as high as these two AWESOME!!!!!bands did and still do till this day
The radio industry is brainwashing teens to listening to crap. Only the smart teens don't.
Only good metal band today = Dream Theater.





They aren't a screaming band like most metal bands are. But they still play very well. The best musicianship in a metal band I've ever seen / heard. It's not just the guitar continuesly wailing through each song, every instrument gets their turn. And as far as live goes, I actually just went to a concert of there's and their even better live.





I think there is still hope, but barely any.

there's no band now that sounds like either of those. there may well never be another 'master of puppets' or 'number of the beast' . its almost tragic. all songwriting capabilities seem to be forgotten, and they all focus on trying to be the heaviest





guess we'll just have to cope with old records...
metal bands get mixed with mainstream. thats how producers and mangers want it. otherwise they make no money. sadly, metal is a dying genre of music. it's only staying alive because metal heads are headstrong like that.


btw emo and screamo are completely opposite of metal. metal is about being a rebel. emo is about being in depression. screamo is about screaming your lungs out. whoever told you emo and screamo are metal are retarded... for sure
I listen to the modern day music, such as ';screamo/emo'; etc. It's good. I'd much prefer that over Iron Maiden. And piercings? Done completely for aesthetic values. Just because no one wants the old school mullet anymore doesn't mean music sucks.


By the way: Screamo and Emo aren't metal, end of story.

It seems almost pointless to try to even compare those bands to the ones that are now out today.





Unfortunately I felt Metallica was losing their touch with the past few years anyways.


Yes the new trend today is the emo, screamo, hardcore, etc...





I actually enjoy the hardcore music myself.


At least they have some sort of idea on what sounds decent.

I disagree im a huge metal fan old and new.... There are some metal bands today that are so UNBELIEVABLE but because you ppl are stuck in the 80's you cant see that....


Lets get 1 thing straight EMO and SCREAMO are NOT metal they are metals nemisis.... They are a descrace of a genre....


Try bands like Dreame Theatre and Iced Earth and theres plenty more but you obviously dont look very hard!!!


Death metal Black metal etc are some of the hardest styles of music to play so live a little the 80's are GONE !!!
I know, they seem like gothic descendants nowadays. They need better metal these days, I second that! Come on, Metallica! Make another great album for us metal lovers alike! What about Celldweller? Have you heard anything by them? Well, I'm not just a metal lover, so I like the songs by Celldweller with Styles Of Beyond. Rock/rap at its finest, you know? Don't worry, I haven't strayed from metal at all. I've got a 4000+ song library, all kinds of songs here! Rock on!
That is why Iron Maiden and Metallica are classics. I don't believe there will ever be bands like that again - sadly.
They all went *straight edge*. True story. Look at Aerosmith, Guns n' Roses, Ozzy, Metallica etc. They are all AWESOME bands that formed the basis of what some of these fools are now trying to pass off as metal. BUT: As soon as all the band members sobered up and wiped their noses, their music went downhill. I hate to say that about metallica and Ozzy etc, but it's true. Try a comparison of their old music to the new.
