I'm getting married in less than a year and fear that if I start on the pill now, I won't be able to fit into the dress when the date comes. Is the myth true or are there ways to avoid the weight gain?Is the urban myth true... that birth control pills make you gain weight? (more to the question below)?
Weight gain is listed on the possible side effects for birth control. Most women that I know have not experienced it. From my personal experience, when I first started them, I felt sick and tired, and sometimes eating some crackers or something would help ease the queasiness. This only lasted for a month or two and my body seemed to adjust and regulate itself, and I did not experience any weight gain. I don't think that if you were someone more susceptible to this side effect that it would be such a dramatic difference that you couldn't fit into your dress. if you do gain weight, it will probably be 5 pounds or less, and you should have time to take it off when your body is used to the hormonal changes that the pill has brought on. Trust me, it is best to already be on it and adjusted before the big day.Is the urban myth true... that birth control pills make you gain weight? (more to the question below)?
Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.
Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.
U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.
Yes they do make you gain weight
It's a myth and some women use it as an excuse.
It's pretty random who gains weight or not. I was on pills a couple years ago and I didn't gain any, then I started again on the same brand and I gained around 5 pounds. Not enough to be concerned about or change how my clothes fit though.
If you do start now, the weight gain happens pretty quickly, so if you're really concerned with it, you can stop after a few months. The weight gained is due to retaining water, so it comes and goes pretty quickly.
Whatever you do, don't go on the depo shot. With pills you can stop if you have side effects, but with the shot you're stuck with it for months.
Every girl is different and it also depends on the strength of the pill. The advantages of the pill is you know exactly when you are going to get your period and you can also string two months together so you don't get your period if you have a special occasion to attend. I put on a little weight but nothing dramatic oh and my boobs got a little bigger. 3 months ago I stop the pill after being on it for 11 years and the weight has dropped off and my boobs have gotten smaller.
I think it depends on your body, I have heard of people gaining weight, I have been on the pill for about 7 years on and off and never gained a pound, good luck!!! and congrats
depends on the person and the type of pill.
Birth control pills change your hormones. Often times it can change your appetite as a result, as long as you continue to eat and exercises the way you are now, you should maintain your weight.
