A Jewish Question Is it true ?

There are Jewish Organisations who have approached the Mormons asking for the practice of baptising dead Jews to stop

Please Only serious answers if you wouldn't mind ThanksA Jewish Question Is it true ?
Absolutely true.

The LDS Church has been asked on more than one occassion to quit baptizing holocaust victims.

Some holocaust survivors have requested this.

You see jews believe everyone has a place in the Kingdom of God as long as the follow the 7 noahide laws.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with someone baptizing me when I'm dead. While I may not be of that religion, I don't see it as a bad thing.

If someone offers me a blessing, even it is one of another faith than my own, I take it as a kind gesture.
Actually the Jews sued the Mormons in court to make them stop, after the Mormons refused to stop when asked. The court ruled in the Jews' favor and the Mormons are not supposed to do that anymore, but I have heard in Orthodox Jewish circles that it is still done at least occassionally.

Google ';Jews sue mormons posthumous baptisms'; or along those lines and you'll find it.
I may be out of place in asking this ... but exactly HOW do you baptize someone who died decades ago...?

I wouldn't allow ANYONE to mess with one of my dead relatives period, and I'm a Christian!

I must be missing some information, but this topic does some pretty freaky things to my imagination... Yeesh.
Well, if you believe in free will - or agency - then it really shouldn't matter who does what for who - God isn't going to make anyone a member of a church they don't want to be.

MOST of the time, the families of the deceased persons are the ones submitting the name, so it is the family acting on their ancestor's behalf. At least that's how it is now, not sure how it was before. There are strict rules about getting permission from family members. Also, that person is not added to membership records. They aren't automatically a Mormon. We do it because we are commanded to.

I have no doubt that SOME of the Jews will accept the ordinances done for them.
Yes, it's been going on for years. And not just Jews but I gather Xian groups have ALSO asked Mormons to stop baptising their members after they have died.

I'm going to suggest that we Jews start 'spiritually' CIRCUMCISING dead Mormons. Think they'll get the point then?

.
Most likely. I don't blame them. Baptism of the dead isn't even biblical.
Not a single Jew has ever requested Baptism after death. Whoever said we did is a LIAR!'

If I found a mormon doing this, I would punish them physically.
Mormons baptize the dead of all sorts of people not just Jews. I think it's disgusting, personally.
I haven't heard of this, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was true.
More details please!
Why should they stop them?
