I don't make wishes, if there is something i want i work my butt off to get it, i don't sit at home talking to my imaginary sky friend wishing and praying that it will happen. I have worked for everything i have, wishing will not get you anywhere.One Question to Atheists: When you make a Wish, Who are you Wishing to, in the Hope that your Wish comes true?
You do realize that there are millions of folks on this planet that don't make wishes right?
Most strive for a goal and work toward it. They put forth the actual effort it will take to achieve that goal. It's called ';success.'; :) It works. :)
There are those that pray and wait, pray and wait, pray and wait.... Then there are the ';doers.'; The folks that put their thoughts in to action and put forth the effort to get the results they are striving towards. Works every time. :)
';I wish I had a million dollars.'; That statement isn't directed at anyone, it's just expressing a desire. No one with a rational mind expects it to magically come true without some kind of action on the part of the wisher (like buying a lottery ticket).
';When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.';
I don't 'wish'. If I want something, I act. I take steps.
Wishing, as you describe, is magical thinking and i don't do that.
Sure i hope for things, but I don't expect outside help.
Why does there have to be a who?
When you roll the dice, do you pray to Lady Luck, or do you just hope to win?
Wishes and hopes are not the same things as prayers, as I'm sure even you distinguish between when you wish and when you pray.
now that you mention it, I've always considered wishes, like when you cut the birthday cake, to be like prayers
both totally pointless
I don't actually make wishes. When I say ';I wish ...'; I'm usually just saying it as an expression.

Wishing does nothing, you have to work for it
I don't really make wishes... I work to make what I want to happen come to pass.
